Gretl Plessinger Leaving
Gretl is truly a class act – this is loss for the Department.
From Sec. Ken Tucker:
It is with no small amount of regret that I inform you that our Communications Director, Gretl Plessinger, has accepted a similar position at FDLE. And while I hate to lose her, it stings a little less knowing that my former agency will get the benefit of her expertise, and I know she’ll be a great fit there.
Gretl came to the Department after working as a reporter for Florida Public Radio for four years, and after six years with the Department she has the distinction of being the longest-serving Communications Director with Corrections. Her easygoing style and grace under pressure have stood her in good stead as she has dealt with local, state, national and even international media. Regardless of the crisis, she was ready to face the cameras and to answer the difficult questions.
Gretl is one-of-a-kind and I know she will be missed on both a personal and professional level. Please join me in wishing her the best on her new position. If you’d like to take a moment and write Gretl a note wishing her well, we are putting together a booklet of thoughts and remembrances from staff. Please get the notes to Paula Bryant by November 10, 2011. Gretl’s last day will be November 15, 2011.
