EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Employee Assistance Criteria | Request an Employee Assistance Form

The Employee Assistance Program is the flagship initiative for the Corrections Foundation.

Established in 1999, it exists to directly and immediately financially assist Department of Corrections employees in times of crisis and emergencies.

Since 1999, over $3.2 million has been distributed in direct financial assistance.

Types of emergencies and crisis include: assistance in traveling to an immediate family member's out-of-town funeral, injury in a auto accident to an employee, an employee's spouse, or one of employee's dependent children; loss or injury due to a house fire; and medical expenses due to a serious injury or illness for an employee, employee's spouse, or one of the employee's dependent children. Your donations will help keep this vital program growing. You can download a detailed description of our criteria.

DC employees' fund the Employee Assistance Program through membership dues either by annual membership of $26 per year or a minimum payroll deduction of $1 per pay period by payroll deduction.

The Foundation assists employees of the Department when family emergencies occur through this program. The goal of this program is to provide immediate assistance when the need is most critical.

Formal requests for financial assistance must be made through the appropriate Warden, Circuit Administrator or Central Office Director.

Staff must be a member of the Corrections Foundation to receive consideration for maximum financial assistance. However, any DC employee who is in crisis and meets the current eligibility criteria can request one-time assistance of $250 by contacting their Warden, Circuit Administrator or Central Office Director.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Corrections Foundation and all the DOC employees who contribute to the foundation. I joined the Corrections Foundation in December 2000 not only so I could wear jeans on Fridays but mainly because it is such a small contribution to assist my peers during difficult times.  I never imagined I would ever need to receive the assistance I so willingly gave.

On July 20, 2008, there was a fire in my home and I lost everything. I cannot begin to put into words the gratitude I feel for my DOC family and the Corrections Foundation. Although I did have homeowners insurance it was a few weeks before I received any assistance from them. I needed immediate relief (clothes, shoes, housing, toothbrush, ect.) and that relief came from DOC. Thank you again for doing what you do. Because of the love that was shown to my family and me during this difficult time I never pass up the opportunity to bless someone when I can.
