Who We Are

The Corrections Foundation was established in 1996 as the non-profit Direct Support Organization to the Department of Corrections pursuant to Chapter 944.802, Florida Statutes.

The Foundation is supported by four staff members and governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.

The board members are appointed by the Secretary of the Department of Corrections to serve two-year terms. They are composed from a vast array of backgrounds and experience and serve under the leadership of President Louie L. Wainwright.

The Corrections Foundation is the first Direct Support Organization of its kind nationally in the field of Corrections and serves as a model.

Our Mission

The Mission of the Corrections Foundation is to support the programs, personnel, and services of the Department of Corrections through grants, contributions, and community partnerships in the interest of public safety.

Our Membership

Membership is comprised of department employees, contractors, retired department employees, and individuals from various other state and private agencies.

Donations to the Foundation are tax deductible and receive the maximum charitable deduction allowed by law.

Words can’t adequately describe how you’ve touched our lives. With a negative experience we learned a very positive, valuable lesson in understanding what the Foundation really stands for. We wish we could share that newfound knowledge with everyone we meet.

Your demonstration of support was unexpected and overwhelming. Every individual who is part of the Corrections Foundation should be very proud of their involvement. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank each of you.
