CORRECTIONS FOUNDATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEET IN TALLAHASSEEBy Sheri Logue, Administrative Director The Corrections Foundation Board of Directors met April 14, 2005 in Tallahassee. The meeting officiated by Board President Louie Wainwright, was very productive highlighting many programs and special events, which have grown during the last year. Of special interest was the annual membership campaign, which began in March and is set to end April 29, 2005. Membership Committee Chair, Jim Williams, Co-Chair and Treasurer, Dave Mecusker and President, Louie Wainwright have driven the annual membership campaign's success. Special thanks to Les Dumas of the Bureau of Staff Development for creating a very informative video and PowerPoint presentation to help educate staff and promote the Corrections Foundation. Upon request Board members are available to present to staff regarding the benefits of joining the Corrections Foundation. To schedule a presentation, please contact the Foundation's Executive Director, Dr. Evelyn Ploumis-Devick at (850) 410-4305 or (850) 487-2778. The Board of Directors and staff expresses our appreciation to Secretary Crosby, Deputy Secretary Denman, Assistant Secretaries, Regional Directors, Circuit Administrators, Wardens and all Department staff for their support of this year's membership campaign. Though the final numbers are not yet in, we anticipate an increase of at least 2,000 members. Increased membership strengthens the Foundation's ability to assist employees in crisis through the Employee Assistance Program and prepare for future natural disaster needs. Remember DC, When You Join, We All Win!
| Assistant Warden, Lee Colson, suggested asking the Corrections Foundation for help. At the time, I never even thought of it. My financial situation was not at the top of my list of priorities then. He made sure the necessary paperwork was filled out for the request and filed. I was surprised at how quickly the Foundation responded. Until you are in a situation such as mine, you don’t realize how much it means for someone to extend that helping hand. To all of you who donate to the Corrections Foundation, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You were there for me when I needed it the most.
