Governor Crist signs Foundation Tag into Law
The specialty license plate that promoting the role of DC officers and staff in the eyes of the public while raising additional funds to support DC employees through the Corrections Foundation. "DC staff protect Floridians in all communities from felons, yet are rarely recognized for the role the officers and staff play in pubic safety. The legislature in passing this plate has started to recognize that DC employees are just as important as police officers, firefighters and other first responders," said Louie Wainwright, President of the Corrections Foundation and Secretary from 1962 to 1986. "You ought to be proud of what you do, the level of professionalism you've achieved, and the public trust you hold in protecting Florida's families, despite any recent issues." The tag, with a user fee of $25, will be available at tax collectors' offices between December 2007 and February 2008. The Corrections Foundation has provided over $1.9 million to over 1,700 employees since 1999. Proceeds from the specialty license plate will go to expand the Employee Assistance Program, a disaster relief trust fund, a scholarship for the children or dependents of employees killed or injurred in the line of duty, and other programs that benefit employees. |
Many people contribute each pay period to the United Way campaign and do not dress casual for their contribution. Those contributions help many people outside our agency. June 13th, 2007 - Governor Crist today signed the Corrections Foundation Specialty License Plate into law.
