CORRECTIONS FOUNDATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEET AT LAWTEY CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONBy Sheri Logue, Administrative Director – November 28, 2005 The Corrections Foundation Board of Directors met October 20, 2005 in Lawtey, Florida. The meeting officiated by Board President Louie Wainwright, was very productive highlighting many programs and special events, which have grown during the last year. The Board of Directors and staff expresses our appreciation to Warden Max Denson, Assistant Warden Hancock, Major Hastens and the staff at Lawtey Correctional Institution for their hospitality and the delicious BBQ lunch which was provided. We also appreciate the excellent turnout from Region I wardens, assistant wardens and officers and support of Regional Director, Brad Carter. The Corrections Foundation has served as the fiduciary for disaster relief efforts providing a combined $70,000 to corrections personnel in Louisiana and Mississippi to assist in their recovery from Hurricane Katrina. In addition, in response to Secretary Crosby’s approval of special casual days the Foundation has raised funds for our Florida personnel in Region IV who were severely impacted by Hurricane Wilma. Thanks to the generous support of DC staff the Foundation has been able to provide $23,600 to aid in the relief efforts and will continue our support as the recovery continues. The Corrections Foundation will celebrate our 10 year anniversary in 2006 which will be highlighted by a year long membership campaign. Any member joining the foundation from May 1, 2005 to April 30, 2006 will be eligible to win the cash prize drawings which will take place in May 2006. In addition the Region of Institutions and Community Corrections with the highest increase throughout the year will win $1,000 each! Upon request our Board members are available to present to staff regarding the benefits of joining the Corrections Foundation. To schedule a presentation, please contact Chris Akins at (850) 488-1250 or (850) 410-4475. |
I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart, who took the time to help my family. I appreciate this so much. I can pay off our hospital debt and our overdue bills now. I even have enough for me to start taking my baby to the specialist…. Jennifer King, Staff Assistant, Program Transition & Post-release Services, Central Office |
