Scholarship Opportunity for Children of DC Employees
We wanted to make you aware of a scholarship opportunity from the Association of State Correctional Administrators (ASCA) for which the children of our current, retired or deceased employees who work or worked full time are eligible.
Applicants must be high school seniors entering college, undergraduates, or graduate students and must attend a 2 or 4-year accredited college or university. Students must be enrolled full time as defined by their college or university. Incoming first-time freshman and enrolled full-time college graduate or undergrad students must have a minimum college GPA of 3.0. The graduate students’ field of study must be Corrections/Criminal Justice.
Last year, the undergraduate scholarships were awarded in the amount of $1,000 each, and graduate scholarships were $1,500 each. The number of scholarships and amount of the awards depend on donations received.
Applicants must apply on line at ASCA’s website and mail the required documents which include two reference letters, college transcripts and SAT or ACT scores, and a short essay. The online application and required documentation must be received no later than March 31, 2012.
