In accordance with our by-laws requiring 30-days notice prior to amendments to the by-laws, we are publishing the proposed change below. If there are no comments or opposition to the proposal, it will go into effect on Sunday, November 11th, 2012.

Purpose and intent of the amendment: To allow members of the Foundation who are employees of private entities and who work in the state correctional system to be a category of members eligible to receive assistance from the Foundation provided all applicable requirements are met.

ARTICLE II
PURPOSE
The FOUNDATION is organized in the public interest pursuant to Chapter 944.802, Florida Statutes, as a direct support organization to the Florida Department of Corrections to support the programs and benefit the state correctional system employees of the department; to serve as a catalyst to identify and address critical corrections issues through public/private partnerships; to acquire and utilize resources available from memberships, grants, gifts, donations, and other sources; and to further the mission of the department in protecting the safety of the public.
